| The Long Tale of Rommel Busker |
by Zach Powers |
Chronicles
the surreal and meandering adventures of drifter and mercenary for
hire Rommel Busker on his undeclared quest for enlightenment. The
end is not what he thinks.
The
Long Tale is a perpetual work in progress, and doesn't flow
with the strict continuity of a normal story, if it flows at all.
It will be updated as parts are completed, so keep an eye out for
the latest.
Sections
will be posted as soon as they're done, with only token editing
in advance. Everything is subject to minor changes at a later date.
This
is partly an experiment in organic form, and like all good scientific
undertakings, hopefully something will blow the hell up. |
| Cast of Characters |
| ROMMEL BUSKER |
| A hired gun, and the most feared man in the underworld. At once grounded and aloof, he doesn't play by his own rules so much as create the rules as he goes along. |
| EUCLID ERASMUS |
| She's a noted geneticist, among other, less seemly occupations. The frequent companion of Rommel, she personifies everything he doesn't. |
| DEATH |
| The physical incarnation of death, and Rommel's drinking buddy. He can usually be found watching sports in a bar, rooting for the underdog. |
| JERICHO LEFT (JL) |
| One of Rommel's twin Jericho 941 semi-automatic pistols. JL is youthful and impulsive, excited by the job at hand, but despite its function possesses a healthy dose of compassion. |
| JERICHO RIGHT (JR) |
| Rommel's other pistol. Cold and calculating, and reluctant for the most part to slide from its holster. It only comes out for the most professional jobs, leaving everything else to its brother. |
| THE LITTLE LAOTIAN (LL, DOUBLE L) |
| A mercenary from Southeast Asia, and the only person Rommel will work with. Holds a post-graduate degree in arcade games. |
